I Am Disgusted and Disheartened
And I Know You Are too
I’m writing this from a place of deep disgust. We have sunk to a place so low that it’s hard not to feel demoralized.
Our President is looking to start a Civil War. In America. How f&cked up is that?
He has his reasons, none of which have to do with any actual threat. He’s looking to distract, just as he always does. Last week was a complete and utter embarrassment for him. The things Musk posted- being in the Epstein files, calling for his impeachment. With a bestie like that who needs enemies. The Trusk breakup was epic, and *CF Trump wants us to forget about it ASAP. What better way than to create drama?
There are other reasons he called in the National Guard and the Marines. He’s looking to justify his Big Brutal Bill and his budget for ICE. He’s also aware of the protests being planned for June 14- dubbed “No Kings” which should’ve been called “No Fascists” and is clearly trying to dissuade people from showing up. I have a feeling it won’t work- people are getting more and more fed up. According to CNN, “Although about 150 demonstrators were arrested in San Francisco on Sunday, thousands more returned on Monday to march through the city’s Civic Center and Mission neighborhoods. Similar protests took place in Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, NY, Pittsburgh, Seattle, and Washington.”
Yesterday I put up a meme that said, “Funny how Trump couldn’t find the National Guard’s phone number when the Capitol was being attacked but had them on speed dial when protestors pushed back against his immigration policies and ICE raids.” To which one reader commented how Trump really really wanted to call in the National Guard, but Nancy Pelosi wouldn’t let him. There is just so much that’s false and ridiculous about that statement that I can’t even. I suggested she look up what actually happened. And stop watching FOX and Friends and Newsmax. By the way, if January 6th was Day of Love, why would the National Guard even have been needed? Their lack of logic is astounding.
I just want to wake up to one normal day in America. One. Normal. Day. Apparently that’s way too much to ask from this shit show of an administration.
Governor Newsom is suing Trump for sending in the troops saying, “The level of escalation is completely unwarranted, uncalled for, and unprecedented – mobilizing the best in class branch of the US military against its own citizens.” With Trump’s legal record as of late, he’s going to lose that lawsuit.
Meanwhile, according to Heather Cox Richardson “the National Guard troops sent by Trump to Los Angeles received no federal funding for food, water, fuel, equipment, or lodging.” They are sleeping in their clothes on cold cement floors. As always, Trump did not think through his actions. We have an irrational, impulsive, narcissistic, vindictive, unqualified, erratic, asshole running things. Feel free to mention adjectives I may have missed.
Meanwhile, false images and conspiracy theories about the protests are being spread on social media. And once again Trump asserted that the protesters were “Paid Insurrectionists.” There is video of people setting fire to a Jeep in LA- however that incident happened in March 2024. We are being fed lies by right-wingers who have been fed lies by right-wing media and our own government.
Hitler blamed the Jews for all of Germany’s economic woes and stoked antisemitism to further his agenda. Trump is using immigrants for the same purpose. What’s old in authoritarianism is new again.
Perhaps we will have the wisdom of hindsight. Maybe we can stop this. Or maybe we can’t.
All eyes remain on LA. And please know that you have our love and support.

I've lived my entire life (70.5 years) in the suburbs surrounding Los Angeles. Life is normal in the burbs.
Even in LA, the protests are confined to a few blocks surrounding the Federal Detention Center and the Fashion district where the raids took place. There were also smaller gatherings in the cities of Paramount and Compton, which are mostly minority. So of course that's where ICE/HSI conducted the raids, rounding up brown people at Home Depot and restaurants without warrants, simply because the "might be illegal". What is happening in these places is NOT NORMAL!
We had "normal" for 4 years, until January 20 when the Felon47 regime began.
Governor Newsom (his actual name) and Mayor Bass are doing what they can, along with AG Bonta and our Senators (Padilla and Schiff) and Representatives in Congress, but they need our support. We the People need to stand up to this regime and the chaos it is causing. This Saturday is No Kings Day, we can all do something, whether it's showing up to a protest, donating, posting on social media, or contacting our Representatives and Senators. Do what you can.
