Not too long ago, someone asked me if I subscribed to the Meidas Touch. And then another person mentioned it. And another.
So I looked into it. If you hadn’t heard of the Meidas Touch before this post, it’s likely you would have soon. Because it’s the fastest growing independent news network in the world. It’s getting more viewers than FOX and Friends. According to their website, they “cover breaking news, politics, law, and more. We are unapologetically pro-democracy. Because TRUTH is golden.” Gotta love that.
So I did a deeper dive, and I saw that the Meidas Touch is run by the three Meiselas brothers. Meiselas? My husband and I bought our first house (in Plainview, NY) from Kenny and Randi Meiselas. Who had just had their third son around the time we closed on the house in 1993. They had outgrown the house and moved to a bigger one on the other side of town. At the time we only had one son and it was perfect for us. In fact, after our one bedroom apartment it felt positively palatial.
Yup, it’s same Meiselas family. How crazy is that? There must have been something in the walls of that little split-level house on Lane Avenue that whispered, “Please save our democracy.” Whispers that we all heard loud and clear.
I realize that I am in no way doing what those young men are doing. They started a news network for heavens sake. But I am here chugging away, one post at a time, trying to bring awareness to what’s going on.
When they moved, the Meiselas family left behind a tire swing that hung from the one tree in the backyard. My boys loved that swing so much that when we moved to Westchester we brought it with us. And when we moved to our current house, we once again took it with us. I’m looking at it as I write this- it’s swaying in the breeze waiting for my grandson to use it this summer. If any of you out there know the Meiselas’, please tell them we still have their swing. The older two probably remember it.
I know that this is all just some crazy coincidence. But I also feel like it reinforces my sense that I am on the right path with the work I am doing. Just yesterday someone complained that they liked my writing better when I wasn’t political. You know what? I liked it better too. But I feel like I don’t have a choice. I have to do what I feel deep in my soul is right.
If you don’t follow the Meidas Touch, I suggest you do. Knowing that they are out there gives me hope. And right now we all really need that hope.
Thanks for that story. It made me smile today. I support a few Substacks and yours is for my heart, so that I know I’m not alone. Anyone who complains about your politics should be ashamed at this point. We are in the fight for our lives. People need to wake up. Thank you Marlene, we need humor and levity right now and you provide both.
Carry on Queen…
Am an early follower of Meidas Touch Network on YouTube and now on Substack. They are my tribe. Also, follow Legal AF to explain the legalese and the shenanigans of CF47 and the courts. So proud that they are getting the recognition they deserve.
