It’s become increasingly apparent that we won’t be able to count on the federal government while *CF Trump is still President. Not for help before a disaster, not for help after, not for much of anything.
According to Marisa Kabas of The Handbasket, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) currently has just 86 people in Texas, although Trump declared a disaster on Sunday. 86. During a cabinet meeting, President Trump stated that it was not the appropriate time to discuss his plans regarding the phasing out of FEMA. I’m getting the sense that it will never be a good time to talk about his cuts to FEMA and other government agencies. Just like it’s never a good time to talk about gun control and definitely not after a mass shooting. The Supreme Court announced that the Trump administration will be allowed to continue forward with its plans to slash the federal work force and dismantle federal agencies. Dandy. Their ruling should have just stated that the American people are screwed.
We can’t rely on the government for accurate information about vaccines. Measles cases in the US are the highest they’ve been since the disease was eliminated in 2000. So far this year, 1277 cases of measles have been reported. That number is expected to rise. The reason measles is spreading can be largely attributed to declining vaccination rates. According to NBC news, “many disease experts have expressed concern that the federal messaging around vaccines could make the outbreak harder to contain. While Health and Human Service Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has called for people to get the measles vaccine, he has also framed vaccinations as a personal choice and falsely claimed that immunity from measles vaccines wanes quickly.” I still can’t wrap my hear around the fact that we have someone with no medical knowledge and no common sense in charge of our healthcare. I would not have Kennedy head any agency, much less healthcare. Maybe if there were an agency in charge of dumping dead bears in Central Park he could head it. But as most of Trump’s administration, the only qualification Kennedy needed to get the job was blind loyalty.
If I wanted to lead an agency on Exercise and Fitness I would just say “Trump is G-d.” Never mind that my right hip constantly hurts and I can’t even run to the mailbox. I might be able to chase the FedEx guy for a few houses if he missed delivering a handbag to me, but that’s about it.
Not only can’t we rely on the government for services, but we are also still paying the same or more in taxes. After Trump monkeyed around with the SALT tax during his last time at bat, my taxes actually increased.
But not to worry because Trump is making an obscene amount of money from his presidency. In fact, no President has made more. Trump recently announced Trump Fragrances which undoubtedly will smell like grift and greed. There were the Trump coins, the real estate deals, the quid quo pro for basically everything he does.
When once I hoped for cradle to grave care like the Scandinavian countries have, we have gone in the complete opposite direction. We are cutting off programs which would help those who are young, old, disabled, etc. But to Republicans that’s fine because the richest one percent will get richer and that’s what apparently defines great to them. Their slogan should be “Make the Rich Richer” but I guess while honest, it’s not as catchy as “Make America Great Again.”
I feel like we should pull a Boston tea party situation to express our rage at what is going on. Maybe dump those Trump fragrances into Boston harbor. But that would most likely pollute the water and since we no longer have agencies that are working on climate change and helping the planet, it’s probably not a good idea. I’m open to suggestions on how best to proceed regarding getting so little for our Trump tax dollars. I don’t want my money going towards caging immigrants or ICE.
Speaking of climate change, those “once in a century” storms like the one that occurred in Texas will undoubtedly happen again and again. Trump is not all that good at math. Or for that matter, English. Or history.
When the worst happens, don’t look to the government for help. They have abandoned the American people. We will have to count on one another because it’s become apparent that we are all we have.
Heaven help us all.

It seems that MAGA actually stands for "Make Americans Greedy Again". There is nothing "great" about the Big Abominable Bill, unless you are a mega billionaire who wants a new yacht.
And just like Nazi Germany, this administration’s leaders are
sociopathic psychopaths. Their gloating over the inhumane treatment of immigrants and others is like a serial killers passion for collecting newspaper articles on the hideous crimes he had committed.
