Hubby and I are away for a few days in Florida for some much-needed r and r. And after a bitterly cold winter it feels good to defrost.
Today we had spa appointments at our hotel. Before you go in for your treatment, they ask if you’d like to make a wish. And then after you make your wish, you put a floating candle in their little wishing pond. Very Zen.
I asked the woman who worked there if I could wish for Trump to drop dead or if that wouldn’t be in keeping with their whole Zen theme.
She thought for half a second and then suggested that wishing for * CF Trump to keel over would be a waste because then someone else might wish that he lived forever (this is Florida after all). And all those wishes would just cancel each other out. It made sense.
So I decided that instead, I should wish for the strength to deal with whatever he and Musk and their merry band of billionaire bastards throw at us. And I also wished for the ability to help my readers deal with all the chaos and crap as well. (I know that you’re not supposed to share wishes, but since this wasn’t a birthday wish, I feel like it’s okay.)
I’ve gotten numerous messages and comments from readers who are struggling. Struggling for themselves, struggling for friends and families, and struggling for our country. I get it. Four years ago, when Biden took the oath of office, I felt like I could breathe again. I knew he wouldn’t be perfect, but I also knew he was a decent man. And that was how I felt about his presidency. He cared and in my book, that goes a long way. In addition by the time he left, inflation was cooling, and unemployment numbers were good. That’s all about to change.
All this anarchy is not good. I know I’ve referred to the Happiness Institute findings before, but it bears repeating. Countries that are run by oligarchs and authoritarians have the least happy citizens while the Scandinavian countries with their cradle to grave care boast the happiest populations. The United States is now 23rd (after falling from 15th). I can only imagine where will we be a year from now. 4,000th?
Why don’t Americans understand what it will take for us to be a happier people? Taking healthcare away from the poor, sick, and elderly isn’t the answer. Not allowing women to make their own reproductive choices is also not the answer. And so on and so forth.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the spa. And here’s hoping my wish comes true. (And if that other thing I almost wished for also happens, I won’t complain.)

I am still wishing CF Trump dies. It will cancel out one of those live forever ones. I’m good with that.
I’m very glad you and hubby had a nice spa day, well deserved!!
I spit my wine out laughing over you having the hutzpah to ask a total stranger that question - at a spa no less. I wish we could cast a plague upon him and his minions. A little suffering wouldn’t hurt. But thank you for making that wish. I hope it comes true for all of us who know there is a better way. 🌊💙🌊
