As a woman born into the catholic church I am hopeful that this new pope is worthy of the position. Pope Francis left some big shoes to fill. As a Christian I am appalled by the Republicans and other so-called Christians who do not act the way Christ did. I live by love, tolerance, forgiveness and understanding. I don't judge anyone's way of life nor their culture/religion. God is about love. Whether Christian, Jewish, Muslim, etc. We are His children. ALL of us. Shabbat Shalom. ❤️🙏

Thanks, again I feel very much the same about the new Pope, & everything else you mentioned. Pope Francis was a hero to me...the epitome of a good & thoughtful man. Not too many of those around.......My other hero (now gone) was Jimmy Carter. At least Beto O Rourke is still with us! Out registering new voters all over Texas.

You said you aren't an expert on Jesus or his principles. Here's a mini-course!

Jesus was asked which Jewish law was most important. His answer was there are two: love God and love your neighbor.

If that is all any person knows about Jesus, I think they will have a good grasp on his character and what he deemed important. I think you understand more than you realize. 😊

Also, most major world religions have those two items as important tenets.

My protest sign says "Love Your Neighbor." I figure if we all did that, we wouldn't have these other problems.

Shabbat Shalom, everyone. 🕯️🕊️

I feel the same way. I had hopes that the new Pope would be more like Francis than some of hos other predecessors, and I think he is. We're non-religious, but my husband was raised Catholic, so I was very interested in this process. Of course, like you, I am also a citizen of this world, so I care how the leaders of major religions conduct themselves. I have met many good Christians, and some bad ones. Those who simply live their faith to the best of their ability are the ones I like the best.

Shabbat Shalom. Have a good Sabbath, and a great weekend.

Excellent post today. As a Protestant Christian, I am vaguely familiar with the process of electing a new Catholic pope, but it's always interesting to learn about the back stories. I do think I can affirmatively state Jesus is, shall we say, less than pleased with MAGA. Those folks are in for a mighty nasty surprise.

Trump does live in Florida so he’s gotten used to heat which will bode well for him for the afterlife
