Last night on my Facebook blog Thoughts From Aisle 4 I asked my readers, who I call mates, how they were doing. A little check in, if you will.
And I got a lot of comments. People who wanted to express their fears and anxiety. For the record, I am feeling the same way. Although I’ve adapted, I miss watching the news- I think I’ve watched it twice since election day. I miss normalcy. I miss Democracy. I miss knowing grown-ups are in charge. I miss knowing kids won’t go hungry. I miss other countries not hating us. I miss Canada being our friend. Shout out to my Canadian readers!
One woman’s comment stood out to me- she said, “I’m afraid that Saturday’s No Kings Day may not be as large as people say. People are tired and some of us think ‘What’s the point?’ I will go because I said I would, but I think it’s all over for us.”
Nooooooooooo. I refuse to believe it’s over for us. I’m as negative as the next person but that attitude not acceptable. I mean, wallowing in small doses is fine (and even healthy), but we CAN’T GIVE UP!!!!!
*CF Trump’s approval ratings are in the toilet. His latest National Guard stunt in LA isn’t winning him any points, except with the crazies who are a lost cause anyway. His Kim Jong-un/Putin parade for 45 million dollars is not winning him any points. His cabinet picks, especially RFK Jr., are not winning him any points. His Big Brutal Bill is not winning him any points. According to Heather Cox Richardson, “While the measure cuts almost $800 billion out of Medicaid over the next ten years, only 10% of registered voters believe the federal funding for Medicaid should decrease.” 10%!!!!!!! Trump has no tariff deals, despite claiming he does. His approval ratings aren’t just bad, they are next level bad.
We are Americans and we DO NOT GIVE UP!! If we had given up, we wouldn’t even have this country for Trump to ruin. We’d still be in England which is a lovely country but it rains too much and it’s not ours.
In case you didn’t realize it, this is my cheerleading post. (My coffee is finally kicking in so I think I can do it.)
I have a lot to do on Saturday and it might rain but I am going to go to a protest. And no, despite Trump’s threats, I am not even a tiny bit afraid. Until they repeal the First Amendment I will speak up. Because if I don’t speak up, they might actually repeal it.
It is my right and responsibility to protest against this regime and its policies. And it’s yours too.
On a positive note, my Trump voodoo doll seems to be working. I’ve been stabbing him with pins (and yes, a steak knife) all over his little body and the other day he tripped while going up the stairs to Air Force One. He looked about 300 years old. Rumor has it he is wearing a Foley catheter under his pants. I feel like maybe Jake Tapper should look into the situation. (And until he does, he is dead to me.)
Feeling anxious, scared, and defeated is only natural. But we need to show up and continue to show up anyway. WE NEED 3.5% of the population to be at Saturday’s protests.
I hope to see you there.

Until every last right is taken away, it’s our duty to stand up, fight back and be loud in order to keep the country we have loved and grown up in. We need not only to do it for ourselves but for our future and future generations.
There are 2 protests/rallies near me on Saturday. We NEED to be out there voicing our beliefs. If not now, WHEN? If not us, WHO?
Not just this weekend, we need to have our feet on the ground and signs in our hands.
Of course, be careful out there and be safe.
