Hmmm - I think many of us are facing the same dilemma.

My vote is we stay, stand strong and keep posting the truth. Otherwise, all we'll have are the lies.

What you have to say matters. Your voice matters. Don't silence it for anyone.

PS your baby turkey will be proud.

Stay

I for one think you should continue on. It makes me sick what Zuckerberg and many other CEO's are supporting this awful man...but your voice is loud and important and you have many followers on Facebook. It's important that people speak up - if it becomes that there are more trolls than followers that is the time for reevaluation.

Many, many people are facing this right now. I set up my Facebook (I refuse to call it Meta) account almost 16 years ago, and it's where I keep in touch with a lot of folks. As a matter of fact, I just learned this morning of a brand new member of my family, who made his (premature) world debut on January 2nd! Since he decided to be born at just 28 weeks, he has some serious NICU time to serve. My point is, I wouldn't have known if I deleted my account.

I am making a point of not clicking on any FB ads, not participating in any of their "brand surveys" and blocking soooo many pages that are "suggested" for me. I'll choose who I follow and interact with, their algorithms be damned!

I too absolutely refuse to refer to Facebook as Meta

I am staying on FB. The only people it will affect is family and friends and pages like yours. Zuck won’t give a crap or even flinch. The people who it will affect financially are the worker bees who live paycheck to paycheck. The obscenely rich don’t feel it when we get shopping at their stores or buying whatever they are saying. I am very much taking the time to shutdown the ads that pop up in my feed and making less comments or likes. Trying to interact less but still maintain a prescence. Though less of a prescence. I never used FB for facts. I always checked sources elsewhere and did not use it for news. Just my thoughts.

I'm right there with you, Marlene! Even over the last few days, I've noticed more and more trolls on FB, especially on posts regarding our horrific fires here in SoCal. I have backed off some, but I do wonder if I should hit back, even though it draws more trolls.

For now, I will simply repost facts and reply to friends who post them. Thanks to everyone here for your support as we work through this ordeal.

PS: As you may note from my handle, I live in Orange County, so we are safe here. My son and his family are in LA, to the north of the Palisade fire, but still safe. If they receive a warning, they will come to us. Winds are picking up again today, and I won't relax until this is over and my family is safe.

I hope they remain safe. I’m hoping Mother Nature cooperates so that the fires can be completely contained

OH so TRUE!!! BUT one small spark in the dark.......spark of hope maybe. So IMO: stay, but be brief. I love the 2 places, FB for memes!!! TAKE THAT ZUK THE SCHMUCK!

It is a conundrum!!! I do love the Substack, but I would hate to lose the interaction on FB. Zuck does suck and I hate to add to his wealth. But, that said, I still think it's worth it to try and continue to counter whatever BS that we can!! I vote we stay as well. If nothing else, we will at least add a little humor for the delusional cult members.

Stay and keep posting the truth. We need to know that others feel the same way. I think reading your posts and those of others is so important to our mental health. At times I feel like " am I the only one seeing this B.S.?" knowing I am not the only one makes me stronger. By the way I subscribed !

I share this dilemma with you and have decided to give it a few months before I drop the Meta product line (this new non-fact-checking deal applies to Threads and Instagram as well as FB). I resent losing a wonderful source of enjoyment (such as “Aisle 4” ❤️) because Zuck is a wimp. Then again, I may just be putting off the inevitable.

My aunt deleted her FB account 5 days ago for the same reason.

You can temporarily deactivate your account. It's buried under Account Settings somewhere. Personal Details / Account ownership and control / Deactivation or deletion.

I will miss seeing your posts if you do it, but I totally understand!!!

I hope you stay. Thoughts from Aisle 4 is a bright spot ☀️ and one of the very few accounts where I read the comments because, like you, I feel like we’re all mates. 💕

I left Twitter and Threads. Went to BlueSky and it is fine but agree it is not the same as FB. I stayed on Instagram because my 6 grandkids are there. I am not leaving FB. A FB "friend" that I have never met in person and is an artist shared this recently and it summed up my thoughts: "Things that I enjoy about FB and IG that are probably not changing soon...staying in touch with family and friends and seeing what you are up to. I enjoy your photos of kids, pets, beauty, vacations... I enjoy photos of nature and art and travel. I enjoy funny animal cartoons. I enjoy some groups focused on art, nature and activities that I enjoy. This is what I stay for..."

I enjoy groups such as birding, photography, knitting, alternative news, and people like you! I am also one of your subscribers on Substack.

It's a conundrum for sure. I am a paid subscriber on Substack but I am staying on FB, for now. Marlene, you have to do whatever makes you comfortable. Please just don't disappear!

I'm in a similar but yet different situation - I have my personal fb with friends but I'm a financial advisor with a business page. I can't run a business page without a personal fb.

I sold my META stock but equally feel bad that I haven't sold my Amazon stock. It's a moral and financial scenario that I'm trying to balance.

I don't have the answers but the statement "it sucks" has never been more true.

Facing the same dilemma…but I so love being in touch with friends both far and near..and have vowed not to interact with any political stuff….your job is harder..and as long as you continue to send our Substack alerts….i’m happy to follow you there. I will miss you as you’re one of the FB treasures I follow regularly…but I get it if you decide to stop.
